Book Review: Rick and Bubba's Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage

Many of today's young men are lost when it comes to the fine art of dating. Frankly, they are way to passive and need to get more aggressive in their search for the right woman. I (Rick) watch these young guys, and it's as if they think that the woman that God intends for them to marry is just going to happen along. Unless she's the Avon lady, it's highly unlikely that she's going to show up on your doorstep. Rick and Bubba's Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage, Pg 3.

Rick and Bubba, the “sexiest fat men in America” have their own unique style when it comes to talking about marriage. Taking stories and incidents from their combined Thirty-three years of marriage, these two men want to show the world how to have a great marriage (because no marriage is perfect), and have a lot of fun along the way. Rick and Bubba do have a lot of fun, sometimes at the expense of their wives.

When I read the description of this book, I was intrigued. After reading, I didn’t find the book as helpful as I thought it would be. I was not familiar with Rick and Bubba before reading the book, and so did not know what kind of comedy would be found between the covers. I found some of their comments and stories a little demeaning, and not really helpful. To be fair, some of the chapters had really good lessons mixed in with all the comedy.

This book is great for anyone looking for a good laugh or needing some fun advice to give to someone. The book was definitely written from a man’s point of view, and I think that my brother or father would really enjoy it.
