Book Review: Betrayal by Robin Lee Hatcher

Back Cover: Can two wounded hearts find a way to trust again?

Julia Grace has no desire to enter into another marriage. But with her dead husband's half brother threatening  to take away her Wyoming ranch, Julia realizes marriage may be the only way to keep what is rightfully hers.

A man well acquainted with betrayal, drifter Hugh Brennan finds himself drawn to the attractive widow. Yet when he looks into Julia's eyes, he recognizes the same hurt that haunts him.

A thoughtful romance from the turn of the twentieth century, Betrayal will take you to the high desert of western Wyoming, through the crags of the Rocky Mountains, and into the souls of two seekers learning to trust God's love no matter the circumstances.

My Review: Betrayal is the second book in the Where the Heart Lives series. After reading Belonging (the first book in the series) and Betrayal I can't wait to read the third book when it comes out. Hatcher gives us the story of three siblings who were sent West after their mother died. They were split up, and each lived a very different life. This book gives the story of Hugh the oldest brother. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and feeling the hope as they learn to trust each other because of their trust in God. This is really a sweet, easy read for those who enjoy Westerns. I'm adding Robin to my "must read more often" author list.

My Rating:

My Recommendation: I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Westerns and fans of Robin Lee Hatcher.

Book Review: A Matter of Character by Robin Lee Hatcher

"Joshua longed to turn his rage onto his boss, to give Langston Lee a little of what he'd already given Gregory Halifax. But he had enough good sense left to resist the urge. He was already out of a job. He didn't want to spend time in a jail cell besides.

But so help him, he would prove Gregory Halifax was a shoddy reporter and see that he was fired. He would hear Langston Lee apologize. And he would make certain D.B. Morgan never again maligned his grandfather in print.

This wasn't over yet." A Matter of Character, pg 10.

Daphne McKinley has a secret. The heiress of a small fortune writes dime novels loosely based on local lore. Her imagination is captivated by tales of the notorious villain named Rawhide Rick. No one in her small town of Bethlehem Springs knows that the novelist D.B. Morgan is actually Daphne, and she wants to keep it that way. But when a strange newspaperman comes to town looking for D.B. Morgan, it seems that the secret is out of the bag. A search for the truth ensues. But can the loving and generous grandfather that Joshua remembers be the same man that Daphne depicts in her novels?

A Matter of Character is the third book in Hatcher's The Sisters of Bethlehem Springs series. I really enjoyed the storyline with its many twists and turns. Hatcher isn't afraid to put her characters in a tough place, and then make things even harder for them. This was a fun read, and I'm looking forward to adding more of Robin Lee Hatcher's works to my library.
